I Spit On Your Podcast- Satanic Feminism: Embracing the Darkness

Through the films Don't Deliver Us From Evil (1971), Alucarda (1977), Jennifer’s Body (2009), and The Witch (2016), the whe Spinsters of Horror ill explore the representation and importance of Satan as the image of an anti-patriarchal idol and source of empowerment for women. Through witchcraft, possession and pure free will, elements often referred to in connection with Satanic worship, the women of these stories explore their deepest darkest desires while breaking the bondage of conformity and oppression to become liberated spirits of wild feminine abandon. They achieve this when up against religious repression and temporal exploitation that surrounds their burgeoning sexuality and independence. Women’s greatest foes come in the form of religious institutions such as convents and nunneries, enforced family roles displayed in fanatical Puritanism, and secular institutions such as public highschool that perpetuates the objectification of young women. By highlighting the three main Satanic opponents of the patriarchy -- Eve, the witch, and the succubus -- they will show that there is strength in darkness and power within embracing the ideology of Satanism.

The Spinsters of Horror (Jessica and Kelly) flew onto the horror scene in July of 2018 to assist in filling the void of female voices in podcasting with their show I Spit on Your Podcast. As women, they knew that the genre was dominated by the masculine perspective, so they felt it was important to celebrate, and encourage, female horror fans, while at the same time remaining inclusive to all who love what horror has to offer. I Spit on Your Podcast is where two metal witches discuss horror movies, and sometimes other mediums, with thoughtful analysis, research, and passion. It’s a semi-academic show with a dash of feminism, a sprinkle of sarcasm, but rich with intrigue (and black comedy). They aren’t afraid to tackle tough subject matter like the rape-revenge genre or stalking and obsession in the Halloween franchise, but they also like to have fun with discussions on Elvira, Buffy, heavy metal horror, and more!

The event is not geo-restricted.
