Elderly women have long been made a spectacle in the history of horror cinema, but in this selection it’s plain to see that they are neither harmless grannies nor one-note has-beens. You can try to lock ‘em up in a home and forget about them, but these hags will not be contained! Among them are the vampiric, the evil, the hosts of illegible ailments, the crafty survivors of swindles, and the most horrific of all- a reminder of our own mortality!
